The Hampta Pass Trek with Chandratal Lake is a stunning high-altitude adventure in the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas, sitting at an altitude of 14,100 ft. Known for its dramatic landscape transitions, this trek offers the lush green meadows of the Kullu Valley on one side and the stark, desert-like terrain of the Lahaul and Spiti Valley on the other. Along the way, trekkers are treated to snow-capped peaks, serene valleys, crystal-clear streams, and the turquoise beauty of Chandratal Lake, often called the “Jewel of Spiti.”
The journey begins in Manali and follows a scenic trail through Jobra, Chika, Balu Ka Ghera, Shia Goru, and Chhatru, eventually crossing the pass to connect Manali Valley to Spiti Valley. Locals call Hampta Pass the “Gateway to Heaven” due to its ever-changing beauty.
The trek covers approximately 25–26 km over 4–5 days, making it a moderate-to-difficult challenge that requires both physical fitness and preparation. The reward is an unmatched variety of landscapes in a compact route—lush forests, rocky ridges, alpine meadows, glaciers, and one of the most spectacular high-altitude lakes in India.
